Healthy Eating can control your costs

Healthy Eating can control your costs when it comes to healthcare.  Before I start, I know some of you out there might be rolling your eyes.  Here she goes again, nagging me about taking care of myself.  But this time it’s different.  Okay, not really, but I still like to give you ideas about how to make a few changes and have better health which will control your costs in the end!

This time it’s a cook book.  A really good one.  I’ve admitted before that I’m not a great cook.  I’m not creative that way and I don’t want to go their because I am too competitive and I could never beat my husband, Jim, at cooking, and I hate to lose.  He’s just one of those with a gift for cooking.

I recently listened to a teleseminar given by my friend, Jennifer Allan.  Jennifer is an author on the topic of real estate and how to Sell with Soul.  I love listening to her because it’s all common sense, and even though my industry is different from her industry, the same principles apply.

Jennifer decided to hold one of her teleseminar’s about taking control of your health.  Well of course I’m all over that one for sure.  I’m a green smoothie, exercise, self-healing kind of gal.  So I listen in and I am introduced to a woman named Elizabeth Yarnell.  She came up with an idea of cooking that makes my life so much easier because I don’t have to do a ton of thinking ahead.  And although my husband’s a great cook, it’s not really fair to make him cook every night since he works hard too.

Lois can cook!

OMG LOIS CAN COOK!

The last thing I want to do at the end of a day is try to think of something to fix for dinner, but Elizabeth’s book, Glorious One-Pot Meals has given me a little more confidence in the kitchen and now I actually look forward to cooking in a weird sort of way.  The recipes are easy since you don’t have to defrost the meat or seafood ahead of time.  So you can pull everything together in about 15 to 20 minutes depending on how handy you are in the kitchen.  You put everything in your dutch oven (I actually bought a french oven because I had to have a red one) and stick it in the oven for about 45 minutes.  Then I clean up the mess which usually consists of a cutting board, knife and a bowl or two and pour a glass of wine and catch up on emails.

The food is really tasty and isn’t at all like crock pot cooking.  The different food items retain their individual flavors and also meld into the other things at the same time.  It’s pretty amazing that I can pull something like that off.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO TAKE CHARGE

Besides being a great cook book, the idea is to eat whole foods which are really healthy and that means Healthy Eating can control your costs when it comes to healthcare.  What’s really amazing about the author, Elizabeth Yarnell is that she was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) years ago.  She knew that she would have to come up with ideas of how to take control of her health.  The medical community wasn’t a great help to her, just the same old stuff about how she would probably end up in a wheel chair with this debilitating disease.  Well she wasn’t buying that and as a result, she developed this cooking method and even patented it!

IT’S REALLY YOUR DECISION

You can take control of your health too.  You just have to do a little research and take the time to plan your life a little with diet and exercise.

So do yourself a favor and check out the book.  You will be very thankful I told you about it.  Let me know what you think and remember my mantra, Healthy Eating can control your costs!
